Our open workshops are for everyone to take part in and enjoy, as well as learn some new skills. We are delighted that SOOP is offering a variety of adult drama workshops in 2012 at venues across Portsmouth, so take a look at the dates below to see if there is one near you.
Improv for Beginners
When: Saturdays 10:30 - 12:30 from January - July
Where: The Spring Arts & Heritage Centre
How Much: £14 per session
What: The perfect introduction to the skills of improvisation. Anyone who has ever marvelled at the quick wit and creativity of improvisers can learn the tricks of the trade in this seven session course, designed for those who have never tried improvisation before or would like to go back to the basics.
Improvisation skills are essential not just for performance, but can lead to a more positive outlook where you are more open to accepting challenges and opportunities, they can prepare you to deal with problems that arise at home and work, and will mean you are the first person down the pub with a witty remark!
Each session focuses on a specific skill or technique, working with established professional improvisers in a safe, welcoming and encouraging environment. Each session can be taken as a stand alone class or seen as part of a longer course. Refreshments are provided and laughter in guaranteed.
